Conducting the regular state census of population and housing is a historical responsibility of Mongolia, including the Government of Mongolia, to fulfill its obligations to the United Nations, as well as to determine the condition of the people at the primary administrative unit level by each household and citizen and reflect it in the policy program. In this sense, we used the third version of the "Principles and Recommendations of the Population and Housing Census" issued by the United Nations for the 2020 census, which made it a census with modern methods in line with international standards.
In conducting the 2020 regular census of population and housing, according to the principles stipulated in Article 5 of the Law of Mongolia "On the State Census of Population and Housing", the achievements and advances of information technology were widely used at each stage of the census, as well as 4.1.1 and 4.1 of the law. .2 conducted in combination with the methods specified in clauses. 10% of the total household data was collected in each selected household through a detailed questionnaire (traditional method), and the remaining 90% data was collected based on a short questionnaire or registration based on the Population and Household Database and the database of government institutions.
